Life in Portland

Just a quick hello to let everyone know we survived our move to Portland.  It wasn’t easy, but we’re here.  We’re renting a big old home out in the Woodstock area.  Kind of far out, but it’s got a big fenced yard with lots of trees and Rhodie bushes, and it’s right by the best indoor pool in the city, so it’s fine for now.  Biggest news with Rohm is that she finally has a tooth!  A bottom chomper right in the front. It’s pretty cute, and so far she is not too crabby about the whole teething thing.  Her demenor has barely changed.  Here’s a picture from whent we took her swimming at the Sellwood pool this weekend, her first swim in an outdoof pool:

The animals are doing fine.  I installed a pet door this weekend so the cats can come and go.  It’s not quite big enough for Bea:

There are some other new photos and videos we have to upload, as soon as we get our “server” setup I’ll get them up on Flickr.  Hope everyone is enjoying summer.  Come visit us anytime, now that we’re in PDX you don’t have to pay for that annoying connecting flight to Eugene.

So, I’ve finally given up trying to maintain Gallery2 as our photo sharing software.  I’ve moved all of our photos and videos over to Flickr.  Flickr is rad, and it should be easier and faster for everyone to view photos.  It also is easy to order prints, or download the original version of the photos from Flickr.  Check out all of our photos here.  One other great thing about this is that Flickr now supports videos, which hold their quality better than YouTube.  Here are two videos of Rohm from yesterday – Gina is feeding her (and Bea) pieces of a Fig Newman.

Update from Gina – Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July everyone – today is Rohm’s 9 month birthday.  Here’s a letter from Gina below, and there are some new pictures in the photo section here.

Hello Everyone,

Life has been very crazy for us and it will be even more crazy over the next month or so.  So I wanted to take a moment to check in with everyone.

First of all, it was great to see everyone in Chicago.  Rohm and I had a fabulous time and we would like to thank everyone for their hospitality.  Everyone was great with Rohm and we appreciate all of the help.  It’s amazing how much work one little baby can be!  (Even if she is the cutest baby in the world!)  It’s funny because after that trip, I realized that I would never make it as a single mother.  I appreciate single mothers in a whole new way and I appreciate Adam in a whole new way!  So thanks again and we look forward to our next visit home!

The next big thing, is our move back to Portland!!  So when I was still in Chicago, Adam mentioned moving back to Portland.  I kind of took it with a grain of salt because Adam mentions a lot of things.  But when I got back to Eugene, he mentioned it again.  And if Adam retains an idea for more then three days, then it’s a pretty serious idea.  So I went ahead and found a job in Portland exactly a week and two days later and put this whole thing in motion.  Adam already had a job offer that had been lingering on the back burner for a while and so he finally called in for an interview.  Of course, he was offered the job.  So we gave notice to our landlord and we’re moving to Portland next weekend.  It all sounds so great, right?  Well it is great except that we don’t have a place to live.  So this will be very interesting.  On July 15th, we’ll be couch surfing with a baby, a dog, and two cats!  But other than that, we are very excited to move back to Portland.  Adam will be able to finish his MBA earlier than if we stayed here, he has a great new job, we have tons of friends there, and I found something to do that I think I will enjoy.

Moving on, to keep this as short as possible, little Rohmmie Ware will be 9 months old this friday.  I can’t believe it.  She is absolutely adorable.  She crawls, sits up, eats people food, pulls herself up to standing, and cruises along the furniture.  She’s making lots of different noises and is very into Bea right now.  Bea and Rohm have some pretty fun games.  Bea likes to bring her toy and bones to Rohm and Rohm likes to pick them up and put them in her mouth.  It works out really well for both of them.  Bea is getting someone to pay attention to her and Rohm is having new, fun things delivered to her.  They also play tug of war with each other and Bea likes to eat all of the snacks out of Rohm’s tray when she’s in her exer-saucer.  Rohm’s hemangioma also broke open last week and became infected.  So we’ve been covering it up now and giving her antibiotics.  It’s not suppose to break open but it’s common at this age because she started moving around and bumping into things.  So it happens.  She’s doing just fine now.

Anyways, I’ve attached a few new (and adorable!!) pictures of little Rohmmie.  And please forgive us if we’re scattered brained right now, everything is very unorganized but hopefully it won’t be too long before we’re settled again.  Oh, and if you’re interested, the Olympic trials for track and field are taking place in Eugene, so if you watch, think of us!!!

Lots of Love,
Adam, Gina, Rohmmie, Bea, Lutie & Dudie
