Cute new video. Today we’re going to the Pugoween – should have some good video from it later.

Rohm + Gommy, Tactics, & the Scarletts
It’s been forever and a day since the 10th, our last post. Gommy arrived, I went back to work, Rohm learned to breast feed, sleep, and gain weight. Gina is a rockstar. Lori and the Scarlett’s visited. No pictures from Lori’s visit; we were out of it. But pics from Gommy, Rohm’s first trip to Tactics today, and today’s visit from the Scarlett’s. Rohm rocks! Click here for the pics.
More to come, and some videos from Gommy’s arrival etc. Also, I realized finally that the users and logins and comments functionality on the entire site is messed up, so I’m working on resolving all that.
Rohm’s Changing Hue
I put a couple new pictures up. I finally got the site all upgraded and dialed in. I also finally managed to get a video up. It’s us getting ready to leave the hospital. Check it out. Working on getting some better ones up.
Rohm is doing well. She wasn’t feeding well and she was getting kind of jaundiced as you could probably tell from the pictures. We needed a little coaching on the breast feeding, which our pediatrician provided. So now she is eating regularly; which you just can’t help but be ecstatic about at 3:30, 4:30 in the morning. Her skin is losing that yellow hue, and she’s looking nice and healthy again. I had no idea breast feeding is so complicated. Like everything else, Gina is on it and seems to have it locked down now. We’ll see; I’ve been told by other fathers not to take this lightly.
What else? She had her first trip out when we went to the pediatrician; we took her into Ron’s Island Grill when we picked up lunch for ourselves. Kind of fun to have her out, even if showing off a yellow baby isn’t really that cool. We’re planning on having some outings this weekend – I got her a wetsuit and we’re going surfing. Just kidding, that will come later; this weekend we’re going to teach her to skate. Well, maybe just lay her down on a board and roll her back and forth when Mom isn’t looking.
We’ve Moved!
Well, the site at least. Wares in PDX got to me finally, so we’re now parked at www.wareswherever.com. Now we don’t have to buy waresineugene.com, and on and on. Part of the change was to move to new hosting company that will allow me to put more videos up without costing more. If you see any problems with the site, let me know. I think for the most part I have all the kinks worked out. If you have pages bookmarked, they’ll work still also. For the geeks out there: I’m on Dreamhost now and loving it; and drop me a line if you ever want to know how to transfer a WordPress/Gallery2 site to a new domain and server.
So here are the pictures I promised. Video is coming, I promise; our camera ran out of batteries in the final hour at the hospital, so all our good “coming home” footage is video.
Rohm’s Home!
We’re home from the hospital finally. Gina got the all-clear after she was able to walk around a bit by herself, and passed some other tests. We’re all relaxing now, and baby and Gina have been sleeping a bit. The dog doesn’t really know what to make of it all, and already managed to give Rohm a classic pug kiss. She has more energy than the rest of us, she moved in quick and got in some licks before we could stop her. Rohm didn’t seem to even notice though. Anyway, it will be fun to watch that relationship evolve. We have a few new pics that I’ll eventually put up, and I hope to get some video converted for the site today or tomorow.
REW Day 2
Things are going really well today, considering the day we had yesterday. Dad and baby got plenty of sleep last night, so we’re doing fine. Mom didn’t really, since there is pretty much somebody poking, proding, or trying to do something to her about every 10 minutes. So, we’re trying to give her a chance to rest today. She lost about 2.2 liters of blood yesterday! The nurses here have been acting like she’s super human; which many of us already knew. She didn’t need a transfusion though, and her vitals have been steady since we walked in the hospital. She just needs a lot of rest and pleny of food and water.
I had a chance to get some good pictures of Rome up. Check em’ out.

Rohm Watch
Well, it’s been 7 hours since she was born and still no pictures? Yea, it was not a “normal” pregnancy, well, kind of. The baby being born was relatively normal, for an 8 pound baby with no cesarian, and no tearing. Gina was a total rockstar during labor and pushed like a champ. The birth was an incredible experience that words would never do justice. She came out looking great, 10 fingers 10 toes. She had a little trouble kicking fluids out of her lungs at first, but a minor setback. We were ecstatic that she was so healthy. Gina was ok, but there was a lot of excess bleeding. It was attributed to some blood clotting in the uterus. We thought we were in the clear, the nurses left us alone to bond with the baby, who was happily nursing…
Then trouble hit. Gina kept experiencing some pretty bad pains down low and bad bleeding. Long story short – within about an hour of birth we were in semi-crisis mode. An hour later I was kissing Gina as they wheeled her off to the OR and put her under. They removed some excess placenta from her uterus, which was the cause of all the pain. An hour later she was back, doped up, but ok and no longer bleeding so badly. She will be perfectly all right with no long term damage. It was an incredibly stressful and scary situation and an insane drop on the emotional rollercoaster of childbirth. But, it all worked out and now mom and dad and baby are all doing well. Baby… did I mention we have an adorable baby girl? She is already my favorite person on the planet. She has redish/blondish/brownish curly hair, and brown eyes. She is beautiful. Rohm is finally here, and she was everything we hoped for.
Just a quick footnote on the name: Rohm is my grandmothers maiden name, pronounced like “Rome”. Elizabeth is my sister (Rohm’s Aunt, Gina’s BF) who happens to have red hair, but the name was set before we saw baby, so if her hair really ends up being red, that’s just weird.
SO FINALLY SOME PICTURES! I didn’t get a chance to take many post-birth because I was holding the baby for most of the 3 hours afterwards. I put a few up, and we’ll take some more tonight and tomorrow when we’re a bit more relaxed. Thanks to everyone for all the kind messages. Here’s the pics again:

God Bless the Epidural
No baby yet, but the epidural is in. It came at the perfect time, Gina was just about to lose it while they were putting it and she was having a powerful contraction. Sometime between the last post and this one things got more serious. The doc broke Gina’s water, and then the contractions started coming on pretty strong. They were lasting about 45 seconds, and the peak contractions were pretty painful for her. It’s a different world now; and we’re settling in for the home stretch. Gina’s going to try to take a nap, and I’m going to eat something. Things are progressing well and we should have a baby sometime this afternoon.
I think it is kinda cool that this baby is being born a block from UO campus, right at 13th and Alder. Here’s the map:
Delivery Update
Apparently we had our timeline a bit wrong. We had a very mellow night here, Gina was given medication to start things in motion. I can’t remember what its called. She spent a lot of the night awake visting the bathroom and being monitored by the nurses. The setup here is nice; we have a large room with a couch and chairs and private bathroom. The couch folds out to a bed, where I slept for a few hours.
They haven’t broken Gina’s water yet or even started the Pitocin injections. So, we may be a way’s off still. Gina is having contractions every few minutes, and they’re not very strong. The doc should be in soon to break her water and start the Pitocin. Thanks to everyone for the messages and calls. We’ll keep you updated. Here’s a couple pics from after our arrival last night.
